Fairfax Connector Announces Service Changes Effective May 16

Of the 23 Fairfax Connector routes being changed, the following twelve offer service in the Reston area:

RIBS 1, RIBS 3 – Hunters Woods-Lake Anne

  • A new schedule will reflect travel times adjusted for current traffic conditions and added weekday and Sunday trips.
  • RIBS 1 and RIBS 3 buses will directly serve the Wiehle-Reston East Metro station, providing connections to Silver Line and other routes.

RIBS 2 – South Lakes

  • Buses will operate a new route between Reston Town Center and South Lakes Village Center via the Wiehle-Reston East Metro station every 40 minutes.
  • RIBS 2 buses will continue in service as RIBS 4 at Reston Town Center, providing a new connection between the South Lakes and North Point village centers, and Spectrum Center.
  • Alternate service between Hunters Woods, Herndon-Monroe Park and Ride, and Reston Town Center is available daily on routes 551, 981, and 983.

RIBS 4 – North Point

  • Buses will operate a new route between Reston Town Center and North Point Village Center every 40 minutes.
  • RIBS 4 buses will continue in service as RIBS 2 at Reston Town Center, providing a new connection between the North Point and South Lakes village centers, and Wiehle-Reston East Metro station.

RIBS 5 – Herndon

  • Buses will operate a new route between Reston Town Center and Harbor House via portions of Herndon Parkway and the Herndon Kmart.
  • Alternate service to bus stops along Elden Street between Center Street and Kmart is available on Route 950.

Route 551 – South Lakes Drive

  • A new schedule will reflect bus travel times adjusted for current traffic conditions and added afternoon rush hour trips.

Route 574 – Reston-Tysons

  • A new schedule will reflect bus travel times adjusted for current traffic conditions.

Route 585 – Reston South-Franklin Farm

  • A new schedule will reflect bus travel times adjusted for current traffic conditions.

Route 928 – Herndon Parkway-Elden Street

  • RIBS 5 will operate a new route to replace eliminated Route 928, with RIBS 5 service between Reston Town Center and Herndon Harbor House via portions of Herndon Parkway and the Herndon Kmart.
  • Passengers connecting to Silver Line service should transfer to Route 505, 981, or 983 buses at Reston Town Center to reach the Wiehle-Reston East Metro station.

Route 937 – Coppermine Road-Elden Street

  • Buses will operate the same route weekdays and weekends, serving Harbor House, Parcher Avenue, River Birch Road, and Thomas Jefferson Drive on all trips.
  • A new schedule will reflect bus travel times adjusted for current traffic conditions.

Route 950 – Herndon-Reston

  • A new schedule will reflect bus travel times adjusted for current traffic conditions, including an earlier weekend westbound trip.

Route 951 – Sunrise Valley Drive

  • A new schedule will reflect bus travel times adjusted for current traffic conditions.
